# Rocky Wallet

Rocky Wallet is where your assets, addresses, and signing approvals live. It is **self-custodial** — you hold your keys, and Rocky never takes custody of your funds.

## Getting a wallet

You have two options:

* **Connect an existing Canton wallet** — e.g. Cantonloop or Console.
* **Sign up with email** — Rocky Wallet generates a new self-custodial wallet for you.

Either way, the wallet is yours: every transfer, signature, and approval requires your confirmation.

## Back up your recovery phrase

Your recovery phrase is the master key to your wallet. It is the only way to restore access on another device.

1. Open the backup screen and review your recovery phrase.
2. Write it down **offline**, in order. Do not screenshot it or store it in chat apps or cloud notes.
3. Confirm the phrase to finish setup.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Email logs you in — it does not recover your wallet.** Only your recovery phrase can restore access. Back it up before you deposit or trade.
{% endhint %}

## How custody works

* Keys are stored locally and unlocked with your password.
* Rocky cannot access your private key.
* Sending assets, signing messages, and accepting offers all require your active approval.

{% hint style="danger" %}
Never share your password, recovery phrase, or private key with anyone — including people claiming to be Rocky support. We will never ask for them.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://doc.rocky.exchange/getting-started/rocky-wallet.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
